Capito is the Styrian company of the month: the Graz-based company’s artificial intelligence simplifies texts and makes them accessible to everyone.
“Understanding language is the key to the world,” explains Walburga Fröhlich. With her team at Capito in Graz, she has been working for 22 years on simplifying texts for all people and language levels and making them understandable. Capito has now been named “Company of the Month” by the Styrian Economic Promotion (SFG). It all started as a social project for people with cognitive disabilities, but now the simplification of complicated texts is also in demand in business. “A third of all accidents at work occur because instructions were not correctly understood. And every accident at work costs around 3,000 euros in business terms,” explains Fröhlich.Key technology from StyriaSince 2016, artificial intelligence (AI) has been responsible for simplifying the texts at Capito. Most recently, the company was the only Styrian company to receive tech funding of EUR 1.7 million from the EU. Capito’s AI is thus officially classified as a key technology in the European tech industry. Every month, the SFG nominates three candidates for “Company of the Month”.
