LONDON (Reuters) – The Scottish Green Party, with which the ruling independence party in Edinburgh has just broken its government alliance, will vote against Prime Minister Humza Yousaf in the event of a motion of no confidence tabled by the opposition, a report said on Thursday internal party source.

The SNP (Scottish National Party), in power for eleven years in Scotland, has 63 elected representatives in the Scottish Parliament out of a total of 129 seats, much more than its Conservative (31) and Labor (22) opponents, but until now it had on the support of the seven elected Greens to have a majority and govern.

The alliance fell apart on Thursday, eight days after the government abandoned its objective of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 75% by 2030.

Humza Yousaf has said he plans to lead a minority government in Parliament for the remainder of his term until the next parliamentary elections in 2026.
