Laptop manufacturers are already snapping up Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite

Qualcomm had the opportunity to review its Snapdragon X Elite in detail during this second day of the Snapdragon Summit 2023. We thus learned that the Snapdragon mobile Snapdragon processors, Apple M or Intel processors for two generations which integrate both so-called high-performance P and so-called efficient E cores.

The three clusters of 4 Oryon cores operate at a maximum of 3.8 GHz when stressed together. One to two cores can, however, reach 4.3 GHz for brief tasks. Qualcomm detailed the architecture, specifying that the Oryon cores have a 42 MB cache memory fed with data with a bandwidth of 136 GB/s.

9 manufacturers in the starting blocks

To support interest from laptop manufacturers, Qualcomm announced that Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Honor, Lenovo, Microsoft, Samsung and Xiaomi were in the running to offer laptops equipped with the Snapdragon X Elite. If some had intervened during the presentation, such rapid support from other brands was not necessarily obvious.

Among some manufacturers, however, the enthusiasm is a little less palpable. Some manufacturers were burned in 2018 during the marketing of the Snapdragon 835 which already promised Peru. Regardless, the launch window seems ideal for Qualcomm and its Snapdragon
