Sweden has lost a great cultural personality. The playwright Lars Norén died at the age of 76 as a result of Covid-19.

The Swedish poet and playwright Lars Norén ("Demons") is dead. As the Albert Bonniers publishing house in Stockholm reports on its website, Norén died on Tuesday (January 26) as a result of Covid 19 disease. Eva Bonnier, Norén's editor, is quoted as saying: "Lars Norén's importance as a writer and playwright can hardly be expressed in a few sentences at the moment, but it was one of the greatest of our time." Norén was 76 years old.

Some of the Swede's works also made it to German stages; such as the productions of "Personenkreis 3.1" at the Berlin Schaubühne in 2000, "Krieg" (2005) in Bonn or "Überwintertern" in the Oberhausen Theater in 2015. In his home country, the award-winning Norén caused a sensation, especially in 1999 when he Hired prison inmates as amateur actors. They not only robbed a bank at large, but were also responsible for the deaths of two police officers.
