Last day to change your Caf password, here’s how to do it

The Family Allowance Fund has imposed a change of password on all recipients after a wave of data breaches.

After March 8, you will no longer be able to connect to the Caf (Family Allowance Fund) website without changing your password. The social welfare organization noted a wave of data breaches last month and is imposing a change in identification data to avoid any compromises. Caf has posted a video online with instructions to follow to change the password.

How to choose a good password

Three factors are determining: length, combination and total complexity. The simplest technique is to use a complete sentence such as “Jaimelechocolat” and add numbers and special characters, which would give: “Ja1melech0colat%”. Don’t hesitate to use a password manager to store many complex combinations.

On February 13, Caf confirmed to Numerama the compromise of four beneficiary accounts. Hacktivists – militant hackers – had claimed responsibility for these hacks, mainly to create buzz in the cyber world. The administration subsequently admitted that several thousand accounts had been targeted and that it was preferable for all beneficiaries to change their passwords. Remember that Caf was not the victim of cyberattacks; it was the citizens who were directly targeted.
