Are you also one of those who opened Internet Explorer, the ancestor of Microsoft Edge, only to install Google Chrome? Well, the (not very) new native Windows browser has decided to try everything to make you stay. While Google wanted to implement a feature to make Chrome the default browser with just one click, Windows is trying to get its users back.
Microsoft Edge 104 takes on Google Chrome
Microsoft Edge’s latest update was released for all users on August 5th. This version 104 of the browser provides two main new features: improved security and the possibility of migrating data from Google Chrome. What does this major software update entail?
On preserving online browsing, Microsoft wants to do more by “ improving web security “. In the privacy settings of the application, the option “basic” is now selected by default instead of “normal”. With this new feature, Edge will add additional protections to less visited websites. At the same time, access to the most popular sites will be streamlined.
But it is indeed the second novelty of this changelog which surprises. Edge adds the ability to import its data from Chrome, without Google’s browser even being installed. At the first launch of the Microsoft software, users will be offered to connect to their Google account to directly retrieve all the data useful for navigation. With this feature, Microsoft is hitting hard to bring its users back to its home browser!
