The famous Apple back-to-school keynote is approaching. On the program in particular, the iPhone 15 series in USB-C and more efficient Apple Watch Series 9.

It’s the big back-to-school tech event. Like every year, Apple organizes its keynote to present new products, iPhone in the lead. What does the Apple brand have in store for us with this generation? We already have a pretty clear idea of what to expect from the iPhone 15s.

When and where to see the Apple keynote?

Apple will meet us on Tuesday, September 12 at 7 p.m. (Paris time) for its keynote, entitled “Revelation”. No, there is no mistake, it is a simple play on words between dream and revelation.

To watch the presentation live, a video stream will be available on Apple’s official website, on YouTube, on the Apple TV app (on iOS) and on the Apple Developer app (still on iOS).

If you cannot watch the conference or prefer to follow the announcements in French and processed by our team, please note that Clubic is setting up an extensive editorial system to cover the keynote. To make sure you don’t miss anything, you can follow the launch of the iPhone 15 live on Clubic’s X.com (formerly Twitter) via a live tweet (live X.com is really too biased). We will also publish numerous articles on the site to satisfy your thirst for information on new Apple products.

The iPhone is finally switching to USB-C

As usual, four iPhone 15 models will be presented by Apple for whom everything is not rosy at the moment. We will have the standard iPhone 15, the iPhone 15 Plus with the same characteristics but in a larger format, then the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max (whose prices could still break records).

One of the big news this year is the abandonment of the traditional proprietary Lightning port for the adoption of the universal USB-C standard. According to journalist Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple will pass off this change as a major innovation in the service of consumers, when it has in fact seen its hand forced by the European Union on this subject, and has long criticized this obligation imposed by the EU. A slow USB 2.0 connection is expected on the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, while the Pro versions would benefit from a more recent USB 3.2 socket.

The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus should adopt the design with Dynamic Island, reserved for Pro on the previous generation, to definitively say goodbye to the notch, mocked by Android users. We can expect a good performance thanks to the A17 Bionic chip, the first engraved in 3 nm, which should also ensure better energy efficiency, and more ambitious photo sensors on the iPhone 15 Pro.

The Apple Watch Series 9 to accompany the iPhone 15

This is another tradition, the new Apple Watch are launched at the same time as the iPhone, a reminder that it is an extension of our mobile on the wrist. The design of the Apple Watch Series 9 will hardly change, with Apple preparing significant developments for next year and its Apple Watch Series X for the 10th anniversary of its connected watch.

After years of stagnation, the smartwatch will on the other hand benefit from a serious improvement in performance, with an Apple S9 SiP derived from the Apple A15 Bionic of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro. The watchOS 10 update will also bring a serious batch of new features, between a more modern interface inspired by iOS and the integration of widgets, which are making a comeback. Features for cyclists will also allow better monitoring of this activity.

AirPods being an accessory closely linked to iPhones, we could also have news on this side. In particular, a new case with USB-C connectivity is mentioned, but without change for the earbuds themselves.

For iPads and MacBooks, you will have to wait a few weeks. We do not yet know if they will be entitled to a dedicated keynote or simple announcements via press releases.
