All press is good press: while Germany is arguing about the text of “Layla”, the Ballermann hit has been at the top of the charts for four weeks.

The discussions about the Ballermann song “Layla” apparently didn’t hurt the song’s sales figures. The song continues to lead the Official German Charts determined by GfK Entertainment. This means that the song by DJ Robin and Schürze is number one in the German single charts for the fourth time in a row.

“Layla” had caused numerous discussions and headlines in the last few days because of its text. The song is about “Puffmama” Layla, who is said to be “prettier, younger, hornier”. Several folk festivals have already banned the song, which others see as censorship.

Listeners complained for weeks

The “Schlager Radio” had also decided to only play the number after 10 p.m. in a party show, as the “Bild” newspaper recently reported. Radio boss Oliver Dunk said that listeners to the station had been complaining about the song “for weeks”. Accordingly, “an above-average number of calls and e-mails” were received.

“Paradise” by Liaze has positioned itself behind “Layla”, Kontra K, Sido & Leony are new in third place with “Follow”. The Saarland metal band Powerwolf leads the album charts with their streaming show album “The Monumental Mass: A Cinematic Metal Event”, which knocked Rammstein’s “Zeit” off the throne and pushed them to third place. In second place is Cro with the Anniversary Edition of his album “Raop” from 2012.
