LCI: upset by Elizabeth Martichoux, Sandrine Rousseau comes out of her hinges and leaves the set

Invited to the LCI set this Friday, September 22, Sandrine Rousseau abruptly left the set at the end of the political interview. The Green MP did not appreciate a remark from journalist Elizabeth Martichoux.

An end of interview that turns sour. This Friday, September 22, Sandrine Rousseau was guest on the set of LCI to answer questions fromElizabeth Martichoux and of Paul Larrouturou. During the interview, the journalists notably wanted to question the Green MP on the case of Adrien Quattenens – who admitted having slapped his wife during an argument in the middle of divorce proceedings – as well as on Julien Bayou, suspected of sexual violence against an activist, whose behavior Sandrine Rousseau considered problematic during an interview granted in It’s up to you on France 5.

But Elizabeth Martichoux also returned several times to the personal history of Sandrine Rousseau. In 2016, the latter had indeed denounced the harassment and sexual assault of her former ecologist colleague Denis Baupin. Thus, at the end of the interview, the journalist wished to make a remark to her guest. “You are not a victim, you are a politician and that’s why we have the right to ask you questions about your fights and your methods”, launched Elizabeth Martichoux. A statement that has ulcerated the elected ecologist.

Sandrine Rousseau: “It is as a leader of a political woman that I speak to you”

See, permanently sending me back to my victim position is once again impossible. It is not possible to pose the debate like that, sorry. It is as a leader of a political woman that I speak to you and advance the debates“, dropped Sandrine Rousseau. Not understanding the reaction of her guest, Elizabeth Martichoux then wished to explain what she had just said: “What did I just tell you? Madame Rousseau, I just told you ‘you are not a victim’, you did not hear me!” Words that were not enough to calm the anger of Sandrine Rousseau who finally abruptly left the set of the show.

A few hours after the interview, Sandrine Rousseau took to her Twitter account to come back to this incident. “An interview for the prosecution, where we question feminist movements and women more than violence and its perpetrators. An interview of a world that we no longer want”she wrote, adding the hashtag #OnSeRiseOnSeCasse.
