LCS: Evil Geniuses win their first league title, Monstrous Danny

The team Evil Geniuses won their first NA League of Legends title beating this weekend 100 Thieves in the final of the LCS playoffs (3-0), after a first part of the season which did not necessarily give them favorites (4th in the regular season). Eliminated in the second round in the playoffs of the last split despite a podium at Summer Split 2021, the EG team had never done better than 3rd in the final stages of the LCS since 2014.

After a transfer window that wanted to change the lines last winter, around the toplaner Impactthe management had announced a new project by bringing Inspired, jojopyun, Danny and Vulcan, and a whole procession of coaching staff organized around Peter Dun. Winning bet therefore, since the team, which had started badly in the first round of the playoffs against TL (EG eliminated 3-2), had to go up the Losers’ Bracket against FlyQuest (3-1) then Cloud9 (3-0) to finally take revenge against TL (3-0) and join the final against 100 Thieves.

Well launched, the Evil Geniuses only had to unwind by beating 3-0 the 3rd in the split, gleaning $100,000 in cash prizes and a place for the MSI 2022. Unsurprisingly given the enormous work done during these playoffs, Danny was voted Player of the Series for the Finals and broke the record for kills in a playoffs, with 111 kills, as well as the most pentakills in a season all regions combined (4), the last of which with Jinx in the final.

Finally, last record, EG won the fastest final in LCS history with 1h18 of game. A complete domination for the team which can now concentrate on the MSI, from May 10 to 29. The team will notably play G2 Esports in a pool of 3, the fault of the disqualification of the CIS region.
