This book is actually a tribute by Francis Veber to his friend the screenwriter Jean Poiret, who died six years before Le Dîner de cons, and who had notably helped him adapt La Cage aux Folles for the cinema. Also an actor and director, Poiret had also played in films such as The Atlantic Wall, The Last Metro or Chicken in Vinegar. At the end of his life, he had also produced Le Zèbre, still with Thierry Lhermitte.
