Although the Evil Geniuses still had a strong regular season, most observers still saw them a notch below the top 3 in the LCS. During their match against Team Liquid, the Impact teammates showed that this gap was no longer that big, forcing Team Liquid, first in the regular season, to go all the way to the decisive game. Was Hans Sama up to the challenge? Back on the performance of the French in this trap match.

A timid introduction
For the first part, Hans was on Jinx. He comes out with good statistics, showing that he made few mistakes and managed to position himself well during teamfights to be a more than credible threat. IOn the other hand, it must be recognized that if the tricolor responded present, he was very far from dominating his vis-à-vis the head and shoulders. The Danny / Vulcan duo was the biggest threat on EG’s side in the first round, with the ADC even inflicting more damage than Hans in the end. The Frenchman therefore had a good first game, without being extraordinary. For the second round, Jinx is banned so Xayah enters the end of the keyboard of the player from France. Again, Hans can’t dominate his lane, Team Liquid having drafted with a weaker botside in the first two innings. Except this time, the strategy of winning at the top is read perfectly by the Evil Geniuses. In addition, the Team Liquid draft was quite greedy with two very late game champions, against a very strong composition in the midgame. Having failed to get ahead in the first few minutes, Team Liquid snowballed little by little, before cracking under the pressure of the Evil Geniuses. Again, if it would be unfair to say that Hans played badly, it is clear that he was not able to make the difference either.
The third round does not allow the Frenchman to shine either. Left on Ashe, Team Liquid absolutely did not draft around him, preferring a very aggressive composition. Hans’ goal was mainly to find pick-ups with good arrows, and to try to survive in a teamfight, without help. Again, he fulfilled his role but did not have the weapons to be the MVP. Nevertheless, victory is all that matters, and knowing how to serve the team is the hallmark of the greatest.
Finally, the powder has spoken
Game 4 was pretty weird. Nothing really went as planned, because from the draft the EG managed to surprise their opponents with a Ryze top, a Lucian mid and a Graves jungle, preventing Team Liquid from dominating on a specific lane. Hans had gone back to Ashe, but against Danny’s Ezreal his options were very limited. He did very well, delivering perhaps his best performance of the match at that time, but defeat was inevitable, the Evil Geniuses trap having worked too well.
However, even the greatest geniuses are not infallible, and leaving Jinx to Hans for the decisive game was a mistake by the Evil Geniuses. The Frenchman having a composition much more centered around him, he will respond by dominating his lane before reigning supreme over the rest of the game. Even if the tricolor played well, we must also salute the work done by the Viego of Santorini, and the performance of the jungler TL in general, the latter having been very good in most matches of the BO. Mission accomplished for Hans, even if he probably still has better things to show.
