Legal opinion follows – no decision yet on the cycle path through the Ach Valley

The old route of the forest railway has long aroused desires. Some dream of a continuous path for walkers, others of a cycle path in the Bregenzerwald. Legal opinions on the requirements and risks should be available by the end of the year.

Neither of these ideas are completely unrealistic, because when we were examining possible bike connections in the Bregenzerwald, two options recently emerged: the route via the Schwarzachtobelstraße or the route along the Bregenzerach. A final decision for the wheel variant will probably not be made this year. By the end of the year, however, a legal opinion by Professors Peter Bußjäger and Daniel Ennöckl should be available, which according to Mobility Councilor Daniel Zadra should serve as a basis for decision-making. The Achal has been a Natura 2000 area since 1995, and the report should clarify details on approval requirements and procedural risks in advance. Disregarding the advantages of the cycle path NEOS mandatary Johannes Gasser is not very satisfied with the current state of affairs. He would have liked a clear commitment to the Achalradweg. “Instead of pointing out clear ways of implementation, new hurdles are constantly being cited. The influence of individual parameters such as costs, relief effect, but also social and economic benefits in the decision-making process remains absolutely unclear.”
