Legendary Tales is a virtual reality game that immerses the player in a universe heroic fantasy, playable up to four in cooperation. Some people can already enjoy it on PC, but the studio took advantage of PlayStation State of Play to announce this experience on PSVR 2. On the agenda for the day? Welcome all PlayStation gamers! Hello, I’m ByungJik from Urban Wolf Games and I’m here to share some exciting news with you. Yes, you read that right, Legendary Tales is coming to PlayStation VR2 on February 8th. So we are here to share with you some information about the game and its development.
So what kind of game is this? It’s a dark fantasy RPG in which you can find medieval weapons and armor, powerful spells, an RPG attribute system, skill trees and dungeons. Do you want more ? We also have crafting, potion making, randomly generated items, collectibles, and a story to discover as you complete quests.
We spent a lot of time developing this game and we’re excited to be able to share it with you. I’m happy to be able to present to you today the philosophy behind the design of this fantastic VR adventure. Legendary Tales will let you forge your own destiny as an RPG hero on PS VR2 starting February 8.
Designed to be played with several people in VR
When we started working on Legendary Tales, our intention from the start was to make it a true multiplayer experience in VR. I absolutely wanted players to feel immersed in the world we were creating and that was our motivation throughout the development process. Every feature, every aspect of the gameplay has been designed to be played only in VR.
Want to powerbomb your enemies? Or hurt them with the hilt of your sword? You can do all this and more in multiplayer with your friends.
Physics-based combat
Legendary Tales is a physics-based VR game. We wanted players to be able to feel the impact of each shot. This is also what pushed us to develop an uncompromising parade system. We wanted players to have satisfying feedback and to be able to feel the power of their hits through the reactions of their enemies.
Attributes and skill trees reimagined for VR
All RPG players, and especially those who play in VR, dream of creating and embodying the ideal hero. A basic RPG has a class system with warriors, thieves, mages, etc. But what if you want to play a mage-warrior? Or if you prefer to fight with your bare hands? We didn’t want to limit ourselves to a class system or predefined attributes and skills. Instead, we wanted to give you complete freedom. So the question is: who do you want to be?
Dungeons, quests, monsters and bosses in a dark fantasy world
VR is the best way to immerse yourself in a fictional world. Legendary Tales opens the doors to a dark fantasy world in which monsters, magic and thrilling quests await you at every turn. Each type of monster has its own techniques and fighting style. You will have to master them in order to achieve victory. Some monsters are stronger than others, some are smarter, but all have their own techniques and movement patterns. Can you master them all?
The unique features of PS VR2
We’ve done everything we can to make the most of the immersive features of PlayStation VR2 in Legendary Tales. The game is compatible with 4K HDR, eye movement tracking, adaptive triggers, headset haptic feedback and ultra-precise dynamic foveal rendering (2 to 2.4 times sharper than the original resolution.) And this while maintaining its original 90 FPS. It wasn’t easy, but we did it. We hope you like it.
