“A week of mobilization ahead of us”
The Prime Minister, welcoming the “massive presence” of the majority in the second round, called for mobilization: “one week to convince, one week to obtain a strong and clear majority”.
“In a week, beyond the labels, it is our values that are at stake: freedom, equality, fraternity and secularism. This first round shows us that this fight is still relevant, and that we must never stop defending these values,” added Elisabeth Borne.
“In the face of extremes, we will not yield anything”
The head of government, concluding her speech, castigated the extremes, seeming to attack in particular the Nupes of Jean-Luc Mélenchon (and his allies).
“Faced with the extremes, we alone carry a project of coherence, clarity and responsibility”, declared the Prime Minister, calling “all the republican forces to gather” around the candidates of Together!
As never before in the political history of our country, we are faced with unprecedented confusion at the extremes. In the face of extremes, we will yield nothing, neither on one side nor on the other. We will yield nothing to defend social progress, the sovereignty of our country and the Republic.
Denouncing “the ecology of prohibitions and taxes”, the “break with Europe, the fascination for authoritarian regimes and alignment with Russia”, Élisabeth Borne also criticized “the questioning of our institutions and insults against our security forces”, referring to recent statements by Jean-Luc Mélenchon. The second round match is now well underway.
