Legislative: Julien Lassalle, brother of Jean, takes up the torch in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques

Julien Lassalle, brother of deputy and unsuccessful candidate for the presidential election Jean Lassalle, announced Monday in Saint-Palais (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) his decision to run for the next legislative elections, in place of his brother who will not run for a new term in the National Assembly.

Jean Lassalle prevented by health problems

Between the “disappointment aroused by Jean’s withdrawal”, “the difficulty of bearing the same name” and “the fear of disappointing”, Julien Lassalle is a candidate with a “firm intention to convince” by committing to the same line political than his eldest, deputy since 2002, he explained Monday to the press gathered in Saint-Palais, in the Basque Country.

This 62-year-old farmer promises to “fight against the opening up” in rural areas, “whether it is road, rail, IT or medical”. Nationally, like his brother, he says he is in favor of the recognition of the blank vote or the establishment of the popular initiative referendum. Prevented from standing again for health reasons in particular, Jean Lassalle had asked Julien, a week ago, to run for him in the legislative elections, in the fourth constituency of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, rural and straddling the Basque Country and Béarn .

Under the banner of the Resist movement!

“Convinced that his brother would leave” despite everything, Julien Lassalle explained that he had “given time to find a solution for the farm and his family” before formalizing his candidacy. “I absolutely need to be Julien, I’m not going to be him and he won’t be me, but if I have any advice to ask, I know where to go,” he added.

The candidate, installed as a shepherd in Lourdios-Ichère in Béarn, will leave under the banner of the Résistons! movement, created by Jean Lassalle and will have Véronique Mongaston, 53, also a farmer in the Basque Country, as her substitute. Julien Lassalle had already entered politics, under the same colors, in favor of the last regional elections, in 2021. He then achieved a score of 13.64% in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques, and 7.67% at the regional level.
