The essential
- A record abstention. Less than one in two voters went to the polls on Sunday. Abstention in the first round of legislative elections broke a new record to stand at 52.49% according to the final results communicated by the Ministry of the Interior. It is slightly stronger than five years ago, when it hit the 51.3% mark.
- Shoulder to shoulder. United under the banner of Nupes (LFI, PCF, PS and EELV), the left arrives neck and neck, but slightly behind the presidential majority with 25.66% of the vote while Together achieves a score of 25, 75%. Only 21,442 ballots separate them.
- Majority. The projections of the polling institutes for the second round do not guarantee an absolute majority for Together. According to projections, the outgoing majority would be in a range between at least 255 and at most 310 seats. If Together does not reach the 289 seat mark, this coalition would only have a relative majority and could be forced to seek allies, for example on the side of the Republicans, who obtained around 12% of the vote, against 18 .7% in 2017.
- The RN is targeting a group. The National Rally ranks third with 18.68% of the vote, a strong increase compared to 2017 (13.2%). With this result, Marine Le Pen, who personally would have obtained more than half of the votes in her constituency of Pas-de-Calais, hopes to obtain next Sunday at least the 15 deputies necessary to form a group in the National Assembly. It would be a first since 1986.
2:16 a.m. – Five deputies elected in the first round including four from Nupes
Five deputies were elected in the first round, including four candidates from the left-wing Nupes alliance, according to the results of Sunday’s first round. Among these first elected members are in particular the outgoing Insoumis deputies from Seine-Saint-Denis, Alexis Corbière (62.94%), and from Paris, Danièle Obono (57.07%). Two other new Insoumises deputies were elected in Paris, Sophia Chikirou (53.74%), ex-director of communication for Jean-Luc Mélenchon during the 2017 presidential election, and Sarah Legrain (56.51%). Finally, in the 3rd constituency of Mayenne, Yannick Favennec-Bécot (64), ex-UDI passed to Horizons, managed to be re-elected for a 5th term (57.13%).
01:19 – Macron’s coalition wins by just 21,442 votes over the left alliance
The coalition around Emmanuel Macron and the left-wing alliance Nupes arrived almost tied on Sunday in the first round of the legislative elections, with 21,442 votes ahead only for Together!, according to the results of the Ministry of the Interior. The macronist alliance won 25.75% of the votes and the Nupes around Jean-Luc Mélenchon 25.66%.
12:42 a.m. – Channel: tight score in the former stronghold of Bernard Cazeneuve
Two outgoing presidential majority and an LR came out on top in the legislative elections on Sunday in the Channel, but the candidate Nupes-PS is ahead of the macronist outgoing Ensemble / Renaissance in the former constituency of Bernard Cazeneuve. Regional councilor and PS deputy mayor of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin Anna Pic (NUP) comes first with 31.61% of the vote in the 4th district, stronghold until 2017 of Bernard Cazeneuve, who slammed the door of the PS after the electoral agreement founding the Nupes. The outgoing Macronist Ensemble-Renaissance coalition Sonia Krimi is hot on her heels, however, with 30.14% of the vote.
11:54 p.m. – The (almost) successful bet of Jean-Luc Mélenchon
Neck and neck with the presidential camp, the Nupes is establishing itself as the first opposition force and could prevent Macron from having an absolute majority.

11:26 p.m. – Gabriel Attal in the lead in the Hauts-de-Seine
The former government spokesman, appointed Minister of Public Accounts in the Borne government, Gabriel Attal came first in the first round in the 10th district of Hauts-de-Seine. Facing him, in the second round, the candidate of the Nupes Cécile Soubelet.

11:23 p.m. – The results of the candidates particularly observed
Elisabeth Borne, Marine Le Pen, Éric Zemmour, Manuel Bompard, Jean-Michel Blanquer and a good dozen ministers were candidates for the legislative elections.
11:17 p.m. – Emmanuelle Wargon eliminated in the first round
The race for the Assembly ends this evening for the former Minister of Housing Emmanuelle Wargon, who obtained only 18.9% of the vote. It is the candidates LR (Michel Herbillon) and Nupes (Éric Pagès) who qualify in Val-de-Marne.
10:53 p.m. – The figures of the far-right party all eliminated in the first round
It’s a cold shower for Reconquest!. Éric Zemmour, despite his good score in Saint-Tropez – where he won 37.12% of the vote against 35.15% for Sereine Mauborgne, outgoing deputy of the majority – was eliminated in the first round of the legislative elections.

Minister for Ecological Transition, Amélie de Montchalin qualified for the second round of the 2022 legislative elections with 30.4% of the vote, but far behind Jérôme Guedj, candidate for Nupes, who obtained 40.4% of the vote.

10:18 p.m. – Aurélien Pradié on favorable ballot in the Lot
The number 3 of the Republicans is well placed to retain his seat in the National Assembly. In the first constituency, the 36-year-old outgoing MP won 45.46% of the vote and will face the Nupes (LFI) candidate Elsa Bougeard (22.26%) in the second round.
10:10 p.m. – VIDEO. Jean-Michel Blanquer denounces irregularities
The majority candidate, Jean-Michel Blanquer, denounced irregularities during this first round of the legislative elections: “Tonight, I am sad to see the results and the rise of radicalism. I failed by few votes, 189, in a campaign full of incidents where I was subjected to very strong verbal abuse, which led to physical violence. There were also irregularities on the part of the candidate who came before me in the second round, I will also look legally at what we should think of this. »
Jean-Michel Blanquer came in third position in the 4th constituency of Loiret, behind Bruno Nottin, the candidate of Nupes (19.43%) and Thomas Ménagé of the National Rally (31.45%).
