Legislative: which presidential candidates are in the running?

They were twelve to stand for the presidential election of 2022, eleven of them did not reach the supreme mandate but how many chose to stand as a candidate in the June legislative elections?

Few unsuccessful presidential candidates have chosen to run to become or remain MPs. They are only four to have made this choice.

Eric Zemmour

After a first presidential election Éric Zemmour launches into the legislative elections. The unfortunate candidate of Reconquest will be a candidate in the 4th constituency of Var.

For his first legislative elections, the former polemicist who became a political party leader invested 549 other candidates.

Fabien Roussel

The one who represented the French Communist Party (PCF) in the presidential election joined the New Popular Ecological and Social Union (Nupes). Fabien Roussel is one of the 50 candidates invested by the PCF within the framework of the union of the left. He will be a candidate for re-election in the North.

Marine Le Pen

A two-time presidential finalist, Marine Le Pen is running for a second term in the 11th constituency of Pas-de-Calais.

Nicolas Dupont-Aignan

Deputy for 25 years in the 8th district of Essonne, Nicolas Dupont-Aignan is representing himself once again.

“I will be a candidate in the legislative elections in my constituency of Essonne which I love so much. 6 weeks to convince and carry the voice of the free French!” he said on April 30.

They will not be candidates for the Legislative

If they are four to have chosen a new campaign, they are six not to present themselves or to represent themselves.

John Lassalle

MP since 2002, Jean Lassalle has announced that he will not stand for a new term. If he did not give the reasons for his withdrawal, his state of health could be in question. It is his brother Julien Lassalle who will stand in his place in the 4th district of Pyrénées-Atlantiques.

Jean-Luc Melenchon

Matignon objective for Jean-Luc Mélenchon who made the choice not to run again to run for the post of Prime Minister the day after the legislative elections.

The third man in the presidential election invests MEP Manuel Bompard in his constituency of Bouches-du-Rhône.

Yannick Jadot

Europe Ecologie Les Verts (EELV) which signed an electoral agreement within Nupes alongside France Insoumise, the Socialist Party and the PCF announced the names of the 100 candidates invested. However, among them is not that of Yannick Jadot, the unfortunate presidential candidate.

Valerie Pécresse

Valérie Pécresse will not be a candidate for the legislative elections. After her failure in the presidential election, the Republican candidate set about repaying the debt of 5 million euros generated by the campaign.

Valérie Pécresse has also resumed her duties as president of the Ile-de-France region.

Anne Hidalgo

Like Valérie Pécresse, Anne Hidalgo will not be a candidate. The politician prefers to devote herself to her mandate as mayor of Paris.

Nathalie Arthaud

Nathalie Arthaud will not be a candidate but presents six candidates of Lutte Ouvrière in the constituencies of Morbihan.
