Just one portable console more available for sale? No, Lenovo’s Legion Go has assets to stand out from the competition.

At the beginning of August, rumors of a portable console proposed by Lenovo had gained momentum, even though the brand had canceled a previous project only a few months earlier.

The Legion Go was quickly confirmed before Lenovo announced a release before the end of the year, in 2023 numbers to be exact. It seems that the brand is on the verge of keeping its word.

Now on sale…

Since yesterday, on the official Lenovo website, it is actually possible to order the Legion Go. There is only one version of the console and there is no option to choose.

…but uncertainty about the delivery date

Few manufacturers are so precise. As expected, it is therefore a question of offering the same processor as on the “large model” ROG Ally (an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme) and an SSD of the same capacity (512 GB).

First difference however, the SSD is in 2242 format: it’s a little worse than the 2280 of the AYANEO 2S or the KUN for example but it’s still easier to find than a 2230 like on the Steam Deck or the ROG Ally. In addition, the RAM (DDR5-7500) is faster than that of the ROG Ally (DDR5-6400) or the Steam Deck (DDR5-5500) and benefits from more advanced technology (LPDDR5X vs LPDDR5).

Detachable Nintendo Switch-style controllers © Lenovo

For the rest, it’s its “detachable controllers” function like on the Nintendo Switch that catches the eye. Let’s highlight another advantage: with the AYANEO KUN, these are the first portable Windows machines to offer touchpads like on the Steam Deck. Hopefully they’re as accurate as Valve’s.

Unfortunately, if it is possible to order the Legion Go in exchange for a payment of 799.01 euros, Lenovo has not yet announced a precise delivery date. She just talks about a “ delivery departure in 2 weeks “, we have experienced more reassuring. Hopefully this doesn’t drag on as much as the shipments of the first Steam Decks.
