In the columns of Le Monde, on March 2, 2024, Paul El-Kharrat returned to his adventure in Les 12 coups de midi. The former champion of the game hosted by Jean-Luc Reichmann explained how the production had done everything to retain him.
Between April 29, 2019 and October 10, 2019, Paul El-Kharrat was the Midday Master of 12 shots of noon. Currently fifth in the ranking of the greatest champions of the show broadcast every midday on the first channel, he left the program with a prize pool which amounted to 691,522 euros. The former champion has forever marked history of the game despite being diagnosed with Asperger’s autism at the age of 16. At 24 years old today, he never misses an opportunity to talk about his illness. He also wrote a book entitled Welcome to my world. Me, Paul, autistic Aspergerpublished by HarperCollins in 2022.
Questioned in the columns of WorldMarch 2, 2024, he explained that he was sometimes able to spot some errors in the statements invented by the writers of the show, as an inversion of the images illustrating Henry II and Henry III. But the former protégé of Jean-Luc Reichmann has made more important revelations. Indeed, he explained that production had done everything to keep him as long as possible.He had wanted to leave the adventure after what is, according to him, a “error” from the host. He had killed an insect on the set in a “funeral entertainment around the killing of an animal“.

A situation that Paul El-Kharrat had not accepted at all. Eventually, the player ended up continuing the adventure after having discussed at length with Jean-Luc Reichmann and the production. “There was too much at stake, I wasn’t going to screw it up over that, I accepted their mistake and continued“, he confided when he did not not hidden having had the feeling that the production really wanted him to stay. “Obviously. Because I was having a memorable, extraordinary adventure.”
