The show Big Heads is very successful, every day, on the airwaves of RTL. But the program hosted by Laurent Ruquier is controversial topic since Tuesday, December 8, 2020. The reason ? The daily humorous and cultural is accused of sexism, racism and homophobia by the association of LGBTI journalists, more commonly known as AJL. Indeed, after a study carried out between September 21 and October 23, 2020, the organization states that an average of 19 discriminating sequences are broadcast every two hours, of which at least a sexist remark every 11 minutes. "Sexist statements take precedence as they are present in all programs (…) Statements that sometimes culminate inInsult and call for violence. After women, it is LGBTI people who constitute a prime target for the fine team" revealed the association on its website. A speech that is far from unanimous within the group RTL, which quickly stepped up to the plate.

Nicolas de Tavernost defends Big Heads

Quickly, Nicolas de Tavernost, chairman of the group's management board M6-RTL, wished to respond to the controversy by defending its teams. "For 43 years, Les Grosses Têtes has been about good humor, humor and different members representing all the diversity of our company : it is all this that makes it one the most beautiful radio audiences," he said on Twitter. Words followed shortly by those of Régis Ravanas, general manager of the audio activities of the group M6-RTL. "On RTL, humor is a solution, not a problem. Thanks to Laurent Ruquier and his Grosses Têtes who make millions of French people laugh every day!" For his part, the comedian Jean-Marie Bigard also wished to speak on this subject: "My friend Laurent Ruquier and our Grosses Têtes family are under attack. I'm sad because it was the last free space we had … Laughing, it's the only thing we fucking have left ".
