Les Numériques launches its Tech + Sustainable label, starting with smartphones

Digital today launches a new label called Tech + Durable. It rewards products with the best combination of high technological performance and minimal environmental impact. A way to steer consumers towards quality products that compromise the planet less.

80% of a smartphone’s environmental footprint comes from its manufacture. This is why, from an ecological point of view, the best thing to do is to extend the life of your appliances. With this in mind, it seems important to us to opt for a sufficiently efficient model at the time of its acquisition, guaranteeing a qualitative user experience over time. As for the “durable” aspect, it will be defined by several criteria such as reparability or brand responsibility.

If we are able to offer this label, it is because — at Digital — we have all the necessary and relevant data. Our widely recognized test laboratories allow us to objectively identify the best products from a technological point of view. As for our durability score, it is based to a large extent on the repairability index, taken into account since September 2021 in the product rating.

A finely tuned grinder which, to date, allows us to highlight seven smartphones to be favored in the context of a purchase that is intended to be sustainable. These are:

Of course, this list is intended to be enriched with new models, while over time, some of the references here present will logically come out of the scope of this label. Count on us to keep an eye on the evolution of the listing and inform you of new entries.

Finally, as you know, Digital tests more than a thousand products each year, and our activity is far from being limited to smartphones. We are therefore committed to deploying the Tech + Sustainable label for other product categories in the future, and are currently working on its application to televisions.
