“Let’s Dance” star Ekaterina Leonova in an interview about difficult times and plans for the future

In the GALA interview, Ekaterina Leonova talks about private depths, what her partner not must be able to and which beauty product should not be missing under any circumstances.

Ekaterina Leonova, 35, is currently beaming on the stage of “Let’s Dance.” Few people know that not all phases of their life were characterized by feelings of happiness. As part of the Deichmann sports event, the professional dancer told GALA how she managed to think positively again even in dark times and which people particularly helped her. She also reveals which beauty product the native Russian cannot do without.

GALA: Do you now only see dancing as a job?

Ekaterina: No, dancing is really my passion. I love to move my body to the music, that’s something very special for me. I also like to choreograph myself. Of course, sometimes it all gets to be too much, but it’s very rare that I lose interest.

Do you have any other sports routine besides dance?

I’ve done dancesports my whole life and with three to four hours of training a day, unfortunately I’ve never really had time to try any other sport. For example, I don’t do strength training at all, only endurance training, such as Zumba.

Have you landed your dream job and where do you see yourself privately in the next few years?

If you want to make God laugh, tell him about your future plans. (laughs) That’s why I’ve learned not to plan too far, even though I’m the type of person who likes to know what’s coming up in advance. Of course I also want a family and children at some point, but so far I haven’t set a specific time when that should happen.

I am truly grateful to fate and most of all to the people around me for being by my side in both the good times and the bad.

What exactly did the bad times look like?

The year 2021 in particular had a big impact on me, because a lot of things got out of hand in my private life. My relationship fell apart, my Let’s Dance contract wasn’t renewed and I was like, ‘It can’t get any worse’. I was really close to going back to my family in Russia.

How did you manage to get out of this low?

When I told my parents about it, my dad said to me, ‘Don’t you have them all anymore? You have lived in Germany for 15 years and now you want to go back? stay there (laughs) he was right. There are always moments in life that pull you down. It’s important to me to stay positive, because only those who stay positive also attract positive energy. I had to learn that too. If you have the right people by your side, you can overcome any crisis.

One of these people is your partner. Does he have to be able to dance too?

My partner definitely doesn’t have to be able to dance. What’s important to me is that it works on a human level. You must also see your friend in your partner, i.e. a soul that somehow suits you.

Dancing isn’t a priority and if he can’t dance I’ll just teach him. (laughs)

As a professional dancer you are always heavily made up on the dance floor. What does your personal beauty routine look like?

In my private life I try to wear as little make-up as possible. However, one product that I cannot do without and that I use almost every day is my lip liner. Since I naturally have very light lips, it makes a big difference. When I’ve had a bad night’s sleep, I also use some concealer to cover up my under-eye circles. Blush and mascara are also always good choices to just look a little fresher. That’s it.

What do you pay attention to in your beauty care?

Since I have very sensitive skin, I mainly try to use natural cosmetics. It doesn’t matter to me how expensive it is. Hyaluronic acid is also something I use from time to time. However, my motto is: Less is more. I’m not a fan of trying any hyped products or beauty procedures. The main thing is that my skin gets the opportunity to breathe and can regenerate quickly after the performances.

How about fashion? Do you have a specific role model?

First and foremost, it is important to me that I feel comfortable in my clothes. I don’t go with certain trends. The clothes have to fit me and look flattering. I like Italian fashion and trends, but I prefer to use cheaper alternatives. If I were to treat myself to something more expensive, it would be a designer bag.
