LET’S TALK VR! Overcoming overweight using VR and rapid test of Pimax Crystal and Frontier (LIVE video at 9 p.m.)

As you probably know, we talk about virtual reality several times a week on our channel Youtube. Through our various live broadcasts and videos, we deal with everything related to VR, whether on hardware, applications, games or even on its daily use.

Tonight at 9 p.m. in “Let’s talk VR! »we invite you to address a subject that concerns many of us, overweight. Indeed, in France (figures from a study of The Obesity League published in 2021), no less than half of adults are overweight or obese. As for the youngest, the finding is also impressive with 34% of children aged 2 to 7, 21% of 8 to 17 year olds and 9.2% of 18 to 24 year olds who are in the same situation. Note that over the last ten years, these figures have increased. This study also demonstrated that overweight problems have a social and geographical origin.. Disadvantaged populations and urban areas are more affected and workers and employees are twice as affected as managers. On the side of their children, the difference is even more marked with a ratio of four. Finally, the percentage of overweight people is not the same depending on the region. Normandy (22.1%), Hauts-de-France (21.2%) and Grand Est (19.8%) have the most and Pays de la Loire (14.4%) ) and Île-de-France (14.2%) which have the least.

To combat overweight and obesity,World Health Organization (WHO) advocated things you all know: consume better (less sugars and lipids), eat more fruits and vegetables and do physical activity. It is on this last point that our topic of the day “Overcoming excess weight using VR” comes to be placed. For many, playing sports is not always easy. You have to find time between family life, work, transport and above all have a solid motivation, especially if we are alone. Similarly, going to the gym is not accessible to everyone, whether for the cost or for the support of the gaze of others, which is not often benevolent towards those who are overweight. We must not forget people with extreme obesity who can no longer move, or even get up and are therefore very limited, even deprived, of physical exercise.

So this is where a VR headset, like the Meta Quest 2, can provide support and we are going to make you discover, this evening, two guests who will testify to you in this sense. The first, Pierre-Alexandre, weighed around 140 Kg, lived it not so badly and bought himself a VR headset to “have fun”. He realized over the days that playing in VR had made him lose weight. The second, Sébastien, is in a more extreme case with a weight exceeding 200 Kg. You will discover, by listening to him this evening, how he who can no longer really stand up, accumulates the health problems which have generated, in part, his overweight, found with his VR helmet a new physical and psychic breath.

In the second part of the show, we will return to a lighter subject with a first approach to VR headsets from Pimax: Pimax Frontier and the Pimax Crystal. The Chinese company is currently on a European tour and one of our members was able to test both headsets in Berlin this weekend. Of course, as always, we will answer your questions via the live chat.

If the PICO 4 catches your eye, and you are patient given the break, you can order the 256 GB models (499 €) or 128 GB (429 €) on Amazon. You’re more of the team Meta Quest 2 ? Know that you can afford it at the Fnac, Darty or Amazon for €449.99 (with Beat Saber and Resident Evil 4 VR currently offered).
