LFI will take over a text repealing the Liot group

The parliamentary group of La France insoumise will include in its parliamentary niche at the end of November a bill tabled earlier in the year by the Liot group, aimed at repealing retirement at 64, Mathilde Panot announced on Thursday.

Two weeks ago, the office of the National Assembly had objected to two LFI texts aimed at repealing the increase in the retirement age to 64, adopted at the start of the year via 49.3.

In response, the Insoumis decided to take up a proposal from the head of the deputies of the independent group Liot Bertrand Pancher. On April 25, the latter submitted two texts along the same lines.

One of them was dismissed after a battle of parliamentary procedure, but the other, which provides for the repeal of the reform by offsetting the cost induced by an increase in taxes on tobacco, remained in the Assembly pipes.

This bill has already been deemed admissible, affirmed Ms. Panot, the head of the LFI deputies.

The reform was not voted on by Parliament and the government was warned that the question would therefore be raised, Bertrand Pancher responded to AFP on Thursday.

Nothing prevents one group from trying to include the text of another on the agenda of its own reserved day (parliamentary niche). The initiative taken by LFI will however be discussed at the Liot group meeting on Tuesday.

The LFI group believes that the presidential camp will not have the regulatory means to obstruct the examination of Mr. Pancher’s text before its examination in committee. It is scheduled to be the first studied in the hemicycle during the LFI niche on November 30, said Ms. Panot.

Still, its future is uncertain: the first repeal text tabled by Mr. Pancher in the spring had been emptied of its substance in committee, before the President of the Assembly Yal Braun-Pivet (Renaissance) opposed the amendments. restoring the flagship measure, invoking article 40 of the Constitution which prohibits parliamentary initiatives from creating new burdens on public finances.

Concerning the constitutionalization of abortion, announced by Emmanuel Macron, the Insoumis will withdraw their own text from their niche, announced Ms. Panot.

If by June the right to abortion is still not constitutionalized, then we will continue, she warned.
