Like the Samsung Smart Monitor M8, the LG 32SQ780S monitor embeds the webOS 22 in-house operating system with its set of applications and a few features such as AirPlay 2 support, which allows you to broadcast an audio or video stream from an Apple device. It is still possible to connect a computer via an HDMI or USB-C input (Display Port Alt Mode), but LG relies on the autonomy of the monitor which can connect to the Internet via the integrated wifi or its Ethernet port in order to access directly to online services. It is controlled using a Magic Remote with an integrated microphone, the same that is supplied with the manufacturer’s OLED televisions, and has two 5 W speakers to be used as a television. LG does not specify whether these are the same applications as on televisions. The manufacturer does not mention streaming game applications for example (GeForce Now).

On the screen side, it is a 32-inch VA panel displaying an Ultra HD definition (3840 x 2160 px), a frequency of 65 Hz, 90% of the colors of the colorimetric space, angles of 178° vision, a contrast of 3000:1, a response time of 5 ms and a maximum brightness of 250 cd/m². It should display a good image in SDR with notably sufficiently deep blacks, but you shouldn’t expect good HDR rendering with such a limited brightness peak.

On the connection side, there are two HDMI inputs, three USB ports, two of which are on the edge, a 65 W USB-C port that can be used as a DisplayPort input thanks to USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode and an Ethernet port. HDMI 2.1 compatibility is not specified, but the HDMI 2 port is eARC compatible, which suggests VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) compatibility. 4K 120 Hz compatibility is unnecessary since the panel is limited to 65 Hz. Finally, unlike the Smart Monitor M8, the LG 32SQ780S does not have an integrated camera.
The LG 32SQ780S stands out from the competition with its ergonomic Ergo Stand, identical to that of the LG UltraFine Ergo 32UN880 monitor that we tested. This foot allows you to completely stick the monitor against the wall or, conversely, to move it forward by 18 cm. The height can also be adjusted over 13 cm while the inclination is possible over ±25°. The monitor has a portrait mode with a 90° tilt and manages 280° rotation by rotating around the stand. Fixing the arm to the desk is very simple since all you have to do is adjust the clamp. The latter adapts to practically all tabletop thicknesses.
The LG 32SQ780S monitor will be available in the United States in the coming weeks for a price of $500 before tax. We can therefore logically think that it will be sold for around 600 € on this side of the Atlantic.
