LG announces its first gaming laptop PC with a 17.3-inch Full HD panel operating at 300 Hz. The UltraGear 17G90Q is equipped with an 11th generation Intel processor and a GeForce RTX 3080. United States and Korea will be first served.
LG is slowly, but surely, making a comeback in the IT world. After updating its range of ultraportables Gram, the Korean manufacturer announces its very first laptop PC for gamers: the UltraGear 17G90Q.
LG equips its UltraGear 17G90Q with a 17.3-inch IPS panel displaying 1920 x 1080 px at a frequency of 300 Hz. A daring choice on the part of the manufacturer, since only competitive games could possibly benefit from this particularly high frequency. Especially since the graphics part of the UltraGear 17G90Q is entrusted to the GeForce RTX 3080 Max-Q from Nvidia, which, remember, is a restricted version for laptops with a relatively thin chassis. Left to choose, we would have seen a QHD panel at 165 Hz in this laptop gamer.
A choice that could however pay off for LG, since the UltraGear 17G90Q will be available at the start of 2022 in South Korea and the United States and then in other unspecified countries. LG would thus circumvent the risk of a complicated supply of new components and especially the additional costs on these new products, in particular DDR5, which will generally accompany Alder Lake processors.
The rest of the configuration is more classic with 16 to 32 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of NVMe SSD with two M.2 slots present. The connectivity is up to date with ThunderBolt 4, USB3.2, Ethernet, HDMI and jack ports. Wireless connectivity is provided by an Intel Killer chip providing wifi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. No compromise on the webcam, since it is equipped with a 1080p sensor compatible with Windows Hello, just like the fingerprint sensor housed in the start button.
LG also indicates that it has integrated a complete software suite to support the performance of the processor as well as the graphics card. The cooling system for these elements is also made up of steam chambers in order to improve heat dissipation. Finally, a keyboard with RGB backlighting customizable key by key is part of the game to assert its orientation. gaming.
The UltraGear 17G90Q should not be available in our regions until the second quarter of 2022, the exact configurations as well as the prices are also unknown.
