The 2024 vintage of LG gram includes seven references: the classic models, available in 17 to 14 inch formats, and three Pro models, including a 2-in-1.
LG will present a plethora of products in early 2024, at CES 2024 which will be held in Las Vegas from January 9 to 12, including its 4K picoprojector, the CineBeam Cube, and a slew of OLED monitors. For laptops, the company is taking a step forward, and is now unveiling its new line of LG gram machines.
In total, the brand has formalized seven references: two LG gram Pro in 16 and 17 inch format; an LG gram Pro 2-in-1 (16 inches); of LG gram 17, 16, 15 and 14, the number indicating the format. As explained by their suffix, and in line with the previous LG gram 16 and LG gram 14 that we tested, these computers give pride of place to lightness. Moreover, the press release reports that the LG gram Pro 2-in-1 was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the lightest 16-inch 2-in-1 laptop.
Meteor Lake processors for the entire range
These seven machines obviously have quite varied characteristics, but they all share one thing in common: they feature a 14th generation Intel Core processor, codenamed Meteor Lake.
Indeed, like Samsung with its Galaxy Book4 PCs, LG has opted for the latest generation Intel chips. As is often the case with these first previews, the exact references of the processors are not explained. The company simply mentions Core Ultra 7 and Core Ultra 5.
In its press release, the brand highlights the AI functionalities accelerated by the NPU (neural processing unit) of these processors, notably operated via the LG gram Link application.
LG gram Pro for those who want a dedicated GPU
The Gram Pro 16 and 17 inches have the particularity of being offered with a dedicated graphics card, in this case the GeForce RTX 3050. A previous generation card therefore, which was succeeded by the GeForce RTX 4050.
The RTX 3050 naturally makes these gram PCs slightly heavier: 1.279 kg for the 16-inch model compared to 1.199 kg for the version with iGPU; 1.379 kg for the 17-inch model instead of 1.299 kg. Models equipped with the NVIDIA graphics card are entitled to a 90 Wh battery rather than 77 Wh.
The other main distinction for the LG gram Pro series concerns the screen: the 16-inch Pro and the 2-in-1 can inherit an OLED panel (available as an option). All other PCs have an LCD screen, possibly touchscreen for the LG gram 1X.
Finally, regarding RAM, the Gram Pro as well as the Gram 17 and 16 allow up to 32 GB of LPDDR5X-7467; you have the same quantity with gram 15 and 14, but at 6400 MT/s.
