Former One Direction member Liam Payne has returned to fans with a video message and apology.
Former One Direction singer Liam Payne (29) has reported back to his fans on his YouTube channel – revealing that he secretly sought professional help last year after finding himself at a rock bottom. Accordingly, he went to a rehabilitation clinic in Louisiana for 100 days to deal with his problems there.
Interview with Logan Paul was the deciding factor
At the time, he did not recognize himself when, according to his own statements, he insulted his fellow human beings. He obviously couldn’t cope with life after One Direction, Payne said in the current video. Among other things, he describes his appearance in the podcast of the YouTuber Logan Paul (28), which brought him a shitstorm on social media, as this low point. In the interview, he made himself unpopular with One Direction fans and supporters by openly scolding his former bandmate Zayn Malik (30) and also declaring that he was the most successful member of One Direction.
The rehabilitation center where he stayed for several weeks is according to The Sun specializes in helping people deal with past trauma. In his video, Liam Payne explained that he was cut off from the outside world there and also gave up his phone. He then dealt with the question of what really gives him joy. That’s when he discovered drawing for himself.

He also apologized to One Direction fans for his statements against Malik in the video titled “I’m back”: “A lot of what I said was wrong. I was so angry about everything that was going on and instead of looking inward, I took it out on others. That was just wrong – my frustration with my own career. I apologize for that.”
In his comeback video, he openly thanked his ex-partner Cheryl Cole (40), with whom he has a son who was born in 2017. She supported him and made it possible to take this break. “Honestly, more than anything, I want to thank Bear and his mom for giving me the freedom to go and get well.” There’s just no point in wanting to be a dad if you have nothing to give. Now he feels like he has his life under control again. Payne also revealed that he hadn’t had any alcohol in six months. “The party is over.”
