Lidl is putting its Monsieur Cuisine Smart back on sale in a new version

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Lidl’s latest generation robot cooker in its catalogs. If the Silvercrest Monsieur Cuisine Plus was still sold at bargain prices this fall, the Monsieur Cuisine Smart was absent. The latter is back in the German brand which will put it on sale for the end of year holidays, Monday December 4, but only on its website. It will not be available in its network of physical stores.

Lidl has planned two surprises for this comeback. The first — and not least — is its color. The Monsieur Cuisine Smart will be offered in a black version, a first for the brand which had not accustomed us to offering its robots in different colors. It is therefore a “black edition”. Lidl seems to be copying Vorwerk here, which launched a limited edition of its Thermomix TM6 in 2022, then offered in “absolute black”.

The second surprise, which is perhaps linked to the first, is the price. It remains unchanged since it is announced at €429, its initial selling price. Here again, Lidl had accustomed us to offering a small discount on its robot cooker, like in December 2022, when it was put back on sale at an attractive price of €359, or €70 less.

Nothing like that here. No discounts for the end-of-year holidays. But the brand has still planned to make a small gesture by offering shipping costs with the code “Noel2023”, i.e. €5 less costs. Better than nothing.

Tested in the lab last December, the Monsieur Cuisine Smart benefits from excellent value for money. Lidl worked to correct the errors of its first connected robot, the Monsieur Cuisine Connect, in small steps. The interface is better thought out and more responsive, the bowl is improved with a central Thermomix TM6 style handle, and the integrated scale now reacts a little more quickly than that of its predecessor. If everything is not perfect, the Monsieur Cuisine Smart stands out as a good reference at this price.

The Monsieur Cuisine Connect at €349

And for those who don’t want to pay €429 but still want to equip themselves with a robot cooker with good value for money, Lidl still offers the Monsieur Cuisine Connect on its online site for €349. Which may also explain why the price of the Smart is not changing this year. The Connect model is the manufacturer’s very first connected robot cooker. Sold less expensively than the Smart version, the Monsieur Cuisine Connect has a less powerful motor, a 7-inch screen (8 inches for the Smart) and does not include a handle which allows the bowl to be better supported.

If you are looking for a real alternative to the Monsieur Cuisine Connect and Smart, the Moulinex Click & Cook has arguments to spare. This robot, which received 5 stars during our test, has many advantages. Compact, complete, good at mixing and quick at cooking, it gives pride of place to guided cooking with a rich and understandable interface. It nevertheless has a smaller bowl (3.6 liters compared to 4.5 liters for the Monsieur Cuisine Smart), which is less suited to the requirements of a large family. It is currently available at €250, a much more accessible price.
