Confessing 22-year-old should only have to spend eight months behind bars after years of serious assaults. However, the judgment of the Steyr Regional Court, which was passed in accordance with youth criminal law despite the fact that the accused was 22 years old, is not yet final.
He was only 14 years old himself when he first assaulted his half-brothers and stepsisters. At the regional court in Steyr (Upper Austria), a 22-year-old had to answer to the youth jury on Friday because he was still a teenager at the time of the crime – in the years 2015 to 2018. Half-brothers were seven and ten years old the first time the accused was accused of serious sexual abuse of his two half-brothers, who were ten to twelve and seven to ten years old at the time of the crime. The older brother therefore suffers from depression, among other things, which is why serious physical injury is assumed. Step-sisters were five and eleven years old. The girls were just five and eleven years old at the time of the crime. The accused confessed before the hearing. The (not final) verdict of the Steyr jury: 24 months imprisonment, eight of them unconditionally. The sentence for such young delinquents would have been up to 7.5 years in prison.
