When the afternoon slump hits us, we like to reach for chocolate or another high-sugar snack. And sure: sweets help for a while and wake us up. But the energy crash follows in no time, and we are even more exhausted and unfocused than before.

A better choice is a protein-rich snack. Protein provides us with plenty of energy and keeps us full longer than empty, simple carbohydrates. How about these peanut butter oatmeal bars? They are rich in protein and healthy fats, delicious – and they are prepared in a flash. You only need three ingredients and not even an oven for the juicy muesli bars.

Ingredients: This is what you need for the peanut butter oatmeal bars

Instructions: This is how you prepare the healthy muesli bars

  1. Combine the peanut butter and honey in a small saucepan and cook over medium heat until completely combined.
  2. Then take the mix off the heat and add the oat flakes. If you want to add any other ingredients, mix them in now.
  3. Now shape the dough in a rectangular shape into a smooth mass and cut bars out of it – the exact shape and size of the bars are up to your taste. Then press them together well.
  4. Allow the peanut butter oatmeal bars to cool to room temperature and then place them, covered, in the refrigerator for an hour.

Et voilà, the delicious and healthy snack is ready!

No matter whether you enjoy the bars on their own or refine them with a few other treats – enjoy it! When packed airtight, the bars can be kept unrefrigerated for up to a week.
