Lilly and co: A new production site built in Germany

(CercleFinance.com) – Eli Lilly announced on Friday that it would devote an investment of $2.5 billion to the construction of a new state-of-the-art site in Germany.

This factory located in Alzey, between Mainz and Mannheim, will specialize in the production of injectable drugs for the treatment of diabetes and obesity in particular.

The American pharmaceutical group, which has launched 21 new treatments since 2024, still plans to market new ones in the coming years.

Once operational in 2027, the site will employ around 1,000 people. Its construction will begin next year.

Taking into account the Alzey factory, Lilly will now operate six production sites in Europe, including one in Fegersheim, in Alsace.

Eli Lilly also announced this Friday its intention to extend its takeover offer for Point Biopharma until December 1.

At the end of its offer, closed yesterday, the Indianapolis group had only got its hands on 26.5% of the capital.
