Lily Allen has been sober for almost five years. The singer definitely doesn’t want to risk a relapse into alcohol addiction.

Lily Allen (38) is proud of the life she has built for herself. The singer’s past was marked by alcohol and drug abuse. She has now not touched alcohol since June 2019. In the podcast “Miss Me?” she tells Miquita Oliver (39) about her motivation to stay sober. “I know what I have to lose if I start drinking again,” she explains, according to the Mirror.

“My life has never been better than it is now. I have a beautiful house, my children are happy, they are connected to each other, I am connected to them, I have a good relationship with my husband, I have money, I can be creative press,” Allen explains. She will lose all of these advantages if she relapses. That’s enough to stay sober every day.

Lily Allen no longer craves alcohol

The thoughts of her beautiful life distract Allen from her addiction. “First of all, I never really crave it. But sometimes when I’m sitting in a restaurant in the summer and someone is drinking a really nice, cool glass of white wine, I might think, ‘Oh, that looks good.’ But then I think : ‘Your house looks nice too!'” she reports. The musician no longer needs regular therapy sessions. However, she occasionally attends online meetings.

Bad behavior caused by alcohol

In the conversation, Allen also reveals how negatively her drinking behavior has affected her character. When she was drunk, she tended to insult those around her in a nasty way. “It doesn’t take a genius to realize that I was and still am very insecure, but I don’t need to take it out on other people,” she emphasizes.

In the Interview with GQ In 2018, the actress spoke about the reasons that caused her to slip into addiction. After the birth of her youngest daughter Marnie Rose Cooper (11), she couldn’t find her way back into her body. In order to meet beauty standards, she caused rapid weight loss by using vodka as a food replacement. “I drank a bottle of Gray Goose a day. It was really bad,” she admitted.

Lily Allen has been married to actor David Harbor (48) since September 2020. Her two daughters Ethel Mary (12) and Marnie Rose come from her first marriage to Sam Cooper (46).
