Linda Evangelista has beaten breast cancer twice. The scars that remain don’t bother her at all, as she now reveals.
Linda Evangelista (58) sees the scars left by the fight against cancer as positive. The former supermodel has survived breast cancer twice. The 58-year-old now spoke on the show “The View”. about their diagnoses from December 2018 and July 2020 and the consequences.
“I’ve had so many surgeries,” she says on the show. “I’m okay with the scars. I think scars are trophies. I’m good with scars.”
Double mastectomy was “the right decision” for Linda Evangelista
Evangelista also shared how she was diagnosed with cancer: “It started with a routine mammogram. I know we don’t like having our mammograms. I’m a big dawdler, but this is one thing I’ve really stuck with ” she explained on “The View.” After the examination, she was called back into the room and learned that she had a precancerous condition. In the end it came down to a double mastectomy. She emphasized that this was “the right decision for me” and that “dying of breast cancer” was simply not an option for her.
Still, there was a small chance that the cancer would come back, Evangelista said. She then went back to her oncologist after feeling a “bump” on her pectoral muscle. This is how she learned that the breast cancer had returned and that she had a high chance of developing cancer again.
“I had to undergo chemo – I’ve been on fantastic drugs for five years, they make you feel so good,” Linda Evangelista said sarcastically on the show, adding: “They’re terrible. They suppress hormones. They make you feel “To be old.” The former supermodel also said that since battling breast cancer, she appreciates life much more. Evangelista’s goal is to survive and “get really, really old.”
The prognosis for Linda Evangelista is “good”
Evangelista spoke about her breast cancer previously in the Wall Street Journal. There she explained that her prognosis was “good” although she knew that the cancer could possibly come back. “I know I have one foot in the grave, but I’m in a really celebratory mood,” she said. “I’ve been through some terrible health issues.” Now she celebrates life. “I’m so lucky to be alive. Everything that comes now is a bonus.”
