Lindenstrasse: This is how the series is honored in farewell

Since November 2018 it has been known that the "Lindenstrasse" will be closed after more than three decades. The last episode of the WDR series will be broadcast on Sunday, March 29, 2020 from 6:50 p.m. to 7:20 p.m. in the first. Around the episode 1,758 some special formats are planned, which should honor the finale accordingly. The WDR announced this in a message on Tuesday.

The WDR will show the documentary "Bye bye Lindenstraße" on March 29 at 6 p.m. The broadcaster looks back on production that has lasted over three decades and combines historical archive material from the "Tagesschau" with excerpts from "Lindenstraße". Current and former actors have their say in interviews.

The first will also broadcast two "Lindenstrasse Cult Nights": from March 28 to 29 (1:30 a.m. to 5:05 a.m.) and from March 29 to 30 (1:40 a.m. to 4:55 a.m.) ) a total of eleven episodes of the series are repeated. The starting shot is fired with episode one "Welcome" on December 8, 1985. In further episodes, the gay kiss between Carsten Flöter and Robert Engel (1990), Klausi Beimer's Nazi oath (1993) or the death of Erich Schiller (2015) are still in progress to be seen once.

The repetitions come to an end in September

Until September 8, 2020, the ARD broadcaster ONE will show a "Lindenstrasse" episode from Monday to Friday at 5.15 p.m. as a repeat. Starting in March, the broadcaster will also be repeating various programs related to the series, including "Moritz A. Sachs – A Man with Two Lives – Conversation with Klausi" (March 8, 2020) in two parts on the occasion of the 30th birthday of the "Lindenstrasse", "The Beimers – Stations from the life of the Beimer family" (March 15, 2020) or "Not broadcast! The Lindenstrasse laughs – a combination of breakdowns from the first two years of the series" (March 29, 2020).

What happened in the last eight episodes?

Exciting events await the fans towards the finals: In the last eight episodes, "Mutter Beimer" (Marie-Luise Marjan, 79) is the victim of a sneaky arson attack and is then seriously injured in a coma. In dreams they meet their son Benny Beimer (Christian Kahrmann, 47) and their late ex-husbands Hans Beimer (Joachim H. Luger, 76) and Erich Schiller (Bill Mockridge, 72). Her "creator", played by "Lindenstrasse" inventor Hans W. Geißendörfer (78), steps in front of her. Will she escape death?

A drama awaits Anna Ziegler (Irene Fischer, 60) on the construction site of the hotel. An accident is looming between Nina (Jacqueline Svilarov, 44), Klaus (Moritz A. Sachs, 41), Neyla (Dunja Dogmani, 42) and Johannes (Felix Maximilian, 44), triggered by research into a right-wing network within Ninas police department. In addition, tough local politician Karola Nowak makes life difficult for anti-gentrification activist Murat (Erkan Gündüz, 47). It is played by Christine Neubauer (57), who ensures a special guest appearance at the end.
