Line Renaud moving on death at 95: “The end is at my door, let it knock!”

This Thursday, March 21, Line Renaud was a guest on the show 7 – 10 on France Inter. At the microphone of our colleagues, the 95-year-old actress made touching confidences about the passage of time and the way in which she approaches the end of life. Explaining that she doesn’t “see[t] not grow old”, the former wife of composer Loulou Gasté revealed that she “sen[t] probably” that she may not have many more years ahead of her, even if she is not “not sure about age” that she has and that she doesn’t have it “never been”.

Unlike some of her relatives, who have difficulty seeing themselves age, even though they are almost only half her age, as she detailed, imitating them with amusement. “‘Oh! My God, I’m turning 50!’ But 50 years is wonderful!” she said with a smile, indicating that she assures them that “it is just beginning” for them. For her part, Line Renaud, however, admitted to being “closer to the end” that from the beginning of his life, with a lot of philosophy: “There, frankly, I would be cheating if I told you that I see myself far from the end! Not at all… The end, I feel it coming. It is at my door, well let it knock!” To which the journalist replied: “And you will decide when you open it to him.”

An end of life which will certainly be without suffering

At the microphone of France Inter, Line Renaud also agreed to say more about her relationship with death, which is certainly part of life and which she does not seem to be afraid of. Stressing that she “is approaching death”, given her beautiful age, the actress however has one ultimate desire, namely not to suffer as was unfortunately the case with her mother during her last moments. Assuring that she had taken steps not to live out the end of her life in the same atrocious circumstances as the woman who gave her life, the actress firmly declared: “I won’t suffer like my mother! I’ll never see that at home again, no. [Ce sera] at home, in my bed and in my sleep, with my dog […] next to me.”
