New Android versions can usually only be installed on current cell phones and tablets. In order to be able to use a new OS on an old Android device, you have to use a custom ROM. Now the popular custom ROM LineageOS is available in version 19. It is based on Android 12.
According to the technology blog XDA Developers, however, it offers a wealth of additional functions. For example, the developers have optimized the volume panel introduced with Android 12 and made it a panel that folds out to the side.
In addition, the Gallery app, the Updater app, as well as the LineageOS web browser, the calendar and the backup application Seedvault have been improved and adjusted. The current security patch for April is also included in the custom ROM. Furthermore, the audio recording app has received an overhaul. Flashing a custom ROM on a smartphone is only recommended for experienced users.
