Angiolino Giuseppe Pasquale Ventura, whose real name is, was born in Parma, Italy, on July 14, 1919. The one who subsequently took the name of Lino Ventura, left his native country at the age of 8, with his mother, to join her father, left to work in Paris as a sales representative. Unfortunately, mother and son cannot find the head of the family, and are therefore left to fend for themselves, in the capital. To help his mother, the future actor starts working at the age of 9 as a porter, but also delivery man, mechanic, sales representative, and office worker.
Later, the teenager begins to devour literary classics. He goes to see the films of Spencer Tracy and Humphrey Bogart in cinemas in his neighborhood. In 1935, at the age of 16, he began the Greco-Roman wrestling and learned, thanks to this sport, brotherhood and humility. In 1942, in the midst of World War II, he secretly married – due to his Italian nationality – his first love, Odette Lecomte, with whom he will have four children. He immediately discovered contact with the public and a taste for the stage, starting a career in the world of professional wrestling. Then, will come the time of his first film alongside Jean Gabin, Don’t touch the grisbi, by Jacques Becker. Follows a mind-blowing career : between 1954 and 1987 he appeared in more than 70 films. Over time, many have become cults of French cinema! On October 22, 1987, at the age of 68, Lino Ventura died of a heart attack. in Saint-Cloud, in his house in Montretout.
Lino Ventura: who are his children?
Lino Ventura has maintained throughout his career friendly relations with personalities known to the French, such as Georges Brassens, Jacques Brel, Jean Gabin, Claude Sautet and José Giovanni. Otherwise, with his wife, Odette, the icon of black and white cinema had four children, Milène born in 1946 and died in 1998 in a plane crash, Laurent born in 1950, Linda in 1958 and Clélia in 1961. Speaking of Linda, the latter remained disabled due to a health problem at birth. After this life-changing event, the couple created in 1966 the Perce-Neige charity, dedicated to “help for maladjusted children”. In 2021, the latter had no less than 37 specialized establishments.
