Lionsgate will produce the film adapting Streets of Rage

We already knew this adaptation in preparation, but it is becoming clearer day by day. Written by Derek Kolstad, the adaptation of Streets of Rage will be produced by the company Lionsgate, well known in the world of Hollywood cinema for financing action films, including John Wick.

In addition to the creator of John Wick writing, a string of producers have already been announced. On the Lionsgate side, Brady Fujikawa and Jon Humphrey are in charge of the project, while we will find Shuji Utsumi and Toru Nakahara on the Sega side. The picture would not be complete without two other production companies: that of the Sonic 2 film called dj2 Entertainment, which sent Dimitri M. Johnson as producer, and the Indian production company Escape Artists, represented by Tony Shaw.

If nothing more has been announced for the moment, all the actors of the project declare themselves very enthusiastic about the idea of working on the film, without surprise. Derek Kolstad even declares that he let himself be convinced by nostalgia for his childhood spent playing the Mega Drive (the Genesis at home): “the ten-year-old in me still smiles at the thought”.

It remains to be seen whether the next game of the license will be adapted from the film, as Street Fighter: The Movie had done in its time, and especially if we will find Yuzo Koshiro on the soundtrack of the film.
