Miosga starts new talk show with CDU leader Merz

New concept and new face: ARD is showing its renovated Sunday talk show in the evening. Former “Tagesthemen” presenter Caren Miosga succeeds Anne Will. In the first broadcast, CDU leader Merz will answer your questions.

In the evening, Anne Will’s successor Caren Miosga starts her new political talk show. The guest of the opening broadcast will be CDU leader Friedrich Merz. Among other things, the show will address the question of how the CDU differentiates itself from the AfD, as the 54-year-old announced. The talk show “Caren Miosga” is to be broadcast live. “I think there is an additional concentration on the part of both the interviewee and the interviewer because they know that nothing can be edited and nothing can be taken back.” The studio is located in Berlin and will again accommodate spectators.

Regarding the program concept, Miosga explained: “As often as we can, we want to start with individual discussions with top politicians or representatives from society and culture. However, this year with so many elections, we will primarily be inviting politicians.” In the second part, guests are added – the number varies.

And there are other program elements: “We want to use small films and reports to bring in people who shouldn’t be forced onto a public stage with an audience of millions.” The journalist, who is known to an audience of millions through her years of moderating the “Tagesthemen”, believes that the topic of economics in political talk shows can be expanded. “Economy is an underexposed topic on political talk shows.” She is hearing “increasingly from board members the desire that talk shows like ours should discuss the economy more often.” But it would also be nice “if they agreed to take part more often,” she said.
