Liverpool are struggling in the League Cup
Guardiola rotates wildly, Manchester City flies

Liverpool FC will be surprised early in the League Cup. After just three minutes, Jürgen Klopp’s team was behind against relegated Leicester City, but the Reds averted the disaster in the second half. However, this does not apply to Manchester City.
The English football champions Manchester City said goodbye to the national league cup surprisingly early, in the third round. The Citizens, who were used to success and led by goalkeeper Stefan Ortega, lost 0-1 (0-0) in a duel between two Champions League participants at Newcastle United and missed out on a place in the round of 16. Former Dortmund player Alexander Isak (53rd) scored the goal of the day against the Skyblues, who were far from having their best line-up and were resting superstar Erling Haaland, among others. Compared to the 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, only three players remained in the starting eleven.
City played an unusually unimaginative game. After a decent start and a good chance from world champion Julian Álvarez, the Skyblues quickly recovered and only had one more opportunity to score in the second half – and that only in the 90th minute. A shot from top talent Rico Lewis from the edge of the penalty area whizzed a few centimeters past the post.
Jürgen Klopp and Liverpool FC, on the other hand, fought their way into the next round with a lot of effort. The German team manager’s team won 3-1 (0-1) against Premier League relegated Leicester City. Cody Gakpo after preparatory work by ex-Munich player Ryan Gravenberch (48th), Dominik Szoboszlai (70th) and Diogo Jota (89th) turned the game in favor of the Reds. Kasey McAteer (3rd) put the 2016 English surprise champions in the lead.
Arsenal FC is also in the round of 16. The runner-up won 1-0 (1-0) against league rivals FC Brentford, and national player Kai Havertz was on the pitch for the entire season. Reiss Nelson (8th) secured the Gunners’ place in the round of 16. The stumbling Chelsea FC surprisingly won 1-0 (0-0) against league rivals Brighton & Hove Albion with a goal from Nicolas Jackson (50th).
