Livret A, LEP, CEL, LDDS… Official rates as of August 1, 2023

The new rates applied from 1 August for regulated savings have been published in the Official Journal. From August 1, no change for the rate of Livret A and LDDS which remains at 3%, the LEP goes to 6%.

From this Tuesday, August 1, the new regulated savings rates will apply. Known since last July 13, they were officially published in Official newspaper this Saturday, July 29. The Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, had already announced on July 13 the rates in force from this Tuesday, August 1.

Livret A rates and LDDS unchanged

The rate of the booklet A and the Sustainable and Solidarity Development Booklet (LDDS) will not change. At 3% since February 1, it will remain fixed for 18 months. And this, despite the result of the calculation formula, which placed this rate at 4.10% for the next six months.

A decision that aroused a lot of dissatisfaction on the part of savers, who feel aggrieved by maintaining the rate at 3%. Indeed, despite a still significant price increase, estimated at 4.3% over one year in July by INSEE, the executive decided not to change the rates of the two booklets until January 31, 2025.

Livret A blocked at 3%, LEP at 6%, PEL at 2%… In how many years do you double your savings?

A decision that weighs. Based on the 510 billion euros in savings in 2022 for Livret A and LDDS savings accounts, setting the rate at 3% rather than 4.1% deprives savers of 2.8 billion euros in interest over the next six months.

LEP always better paid

Despite a very slight drop in its rate, the Livret d’Épargne Populaire (LEP) remains the best-paid regulated savings account. From August 1, its rate drops to 6% (against 6.10% since February 1). Very good news for households with little or no taxation, who can benefit from it.

According to the Banque de France, 18.6 million French people are “eligible” for LEP. However, only 9.7 million French people have one. The LEP ceiling will soon be upgraded. From autumn, it will go from the current 7,700 euros to 10,000 euros.
