LL Cool J wanted to greet the new year with an appearance. However, nothing will come of it because he was infected with the corona virus.

For decades, the New Year’s Eve event “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin ‘Eve” has been part of the TV program of many Americans at the turn of the year. For the 50th anniversary, LL Cool J (53) should actually be on the stage in New York’s Times Square. However, the rapper has been infected with the corona virus, as is now known.

“I know this is disappointing for the millions of fans, but my Covid test came back positive, which means I can no longer perform at ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve ‘as planned,” said a statement, which is available, among other things, to the industry magazine “Variety”. The US network ABC had previously announced a “spectacular performance” by the hip-hop superstar, who would present some of his greatest hits.

Lots of records in the program

Chlöe should not be seen with her hit “Have Mercy” as planned. Performances by Karol G (30) and the band Journey are still planned. In addition, the broadcast of numerous already recorded performances is planned – including by Avril Lavigne (37) and Travis Barker (46) as well as the Italian ESC winners Maneskin.
