Location in Styria – Pfizer delivers less: vaccination plan is adhered to

Styria is expecting a little less doses from the manufacturer Biontech / Pfizer in the coming weeks, but the dates announced for those willing to be vaccinated can be met, as stated in the state’s vaccination update on Friday. The company vaccinations, however, will be temporarily stopped.

Vaccination coordinator Michael Koren reported that 719,051 vaccinations had been registered in Styria so far. These are 521,434 first and 197,617 second vaccinations. Koren reported a downer: “The last so reliable Pfizer was unfortunately no longer so reliable, in calendar week 24 we get 2,340 fewer doses, and in calendar week 25 we can also expect reductions in deliveries.”

Company vaccinations stopped for the time being
Styria stood for keeping its vaccination promises, which is why the company vaccination campaigns have been stopped for the time being – “until we know what else we will get. The deadlines sent out will hold, ”said Koren.

Unexpected plus at Johnson & Johnson
Sometimes you are lucky, as an unplanned delivery of 7,500 cans from Johnson & Johnson had arrived, which could make up for a lot.

With regard to vaccinating adolescents, Koren said that 3,213 adolescents had registered to date, with around 40,000 possible vaccinations between the ages of twelve and 15. “It’s a nice start, but we appeal for registrations,” Koren said to the parents, saying that one should not only rely on the school vaccination campaigns. As of Friday, 633,000 people were registered on the registration platform.

Registration with young people hesitant
According to the Deputy State Office Director Wolfgang Wlattnig, “there have been around 71,000 vaccination entries from last Friday to the present day”. The declining numbers on the registration platform caused concern. In any case, they are planning around 730,000 vaccinations by the end of school, so 66 percent would be vaccinated for the first time. With 430,000 full immunizations by the end of school, you then keep around 30 percent. Including the young people, there are around 1.1 million people who can vaccinate in Styria. “As of today, 47 percent are first vaccinated and 18 percent are second vaccinated.”

A surprising number of rejections
Impfstraßen coordinator Eitner reported that there were a surprising number of cancellations from Monday to Wednesday or that many did not show up. “1,400 didn’t come, 11,000 were planned. The assumption is in the room that it was because of the busy vacation week with holidays and window days, ”said Eitner.

Shift towards vaccination routes
Wlattnig detected a shift in the number of vaccinations from general practitioners to vaccination routes. This is likely to be due to the fact that younger people, who are now getting their turn, tended to go to the vaccination street. At the moment the numbers are balanced at around 50/50.

Regarding the use of AstraZeneca, Vaccination Coordinator Koren said that the vast majority of those who had the active ingredient as a primary vaccination also wanted it with the second vaccination: “Few say I want to be cross-vaccinated” – that is, with another active ingredient as a second vaccination.
