It was a fortnight ago, in the middle of the night, on a small road in Pilat: a heavy goods vehicle driver follows his GPS, which makes him pass… on a path, between Maclas and La Versanne. Stuck, the driver attempts a U-turn, the truck hits a concrete block and its gas tank is pierced. Result: 600 liters of diesel in nature and an out-of-service vehicle.

In Haute-Loire, the mayor of Lapte recounts this other example: “Recently a truck ripped out a roof gutter and a car got stuck, sighs Yohann Fanget. It was settled with insurance, but it could well happen again.

Because the examples of GPS which make the trucks pass by the center of the village are not rare. And the difficulty is that “we were unable to bring up the information to have the routes corrected”, adds the mayor.
