LoL: Considered overpowered, Riot Games confirms an upcoming nerf for the Divine Slayer

It’s been a week since patch 12.10 arrived in League of Legends, and Riot Games and a majority of players seem happy with the changes.. The studio’s goal with this major update was to increase the durability of champions as a whole. (and to nerf the systems linked to it, such as care, shields or regeneration) – in particular to slow down the pace of combat. Beyond champions, many items, runes, and summoner spells have had their stats nerfed, however. it seems that an item has slipped through the cracks.

An oversight soon to be repaired

After patch 12.10 rolled out, Riot Games released a micro-patch to balance a few champions, but nothing new since. Players then noticed that one item in particular had not been changed and was dominating the meta: the Divine Slayer. The item is wreaking havoc in Summoner’s Rift due to a specific interaction.

Divine Slayer

+40 attack damage

+300 HP

+20 skill haste

enchanted blade : After using an ability, your next attack deals 12% (9% for ranged champions) of the target’s max HP as bonus physical damage on hit (1.5 sec cooldown). If the target is a champion, you recover HP equal to 6% of the target’s max HP (3% for ranged champions).

Mythical Passive : All your other legendary items gain +5% armor penetration and +5% magic penetration.

Enchanted Blade deals a minimum of (150% of your base attack damage) damage to units, but no more than (250% of your base attack damage) damage to monsters.

This is partly due to the item’s healing being applied pre-mitigation, which basically means that the divine slayer heals its wearer before applying hemorrhage for example. The slayer’s heal therefore takes priority over bleed and bleed effects and the overall healing reduction brought by patch 12.10 has no impact on the item — which made it frighteningly powerful.

The community has therefore expressed its dissatisfaction on Reddit (as usual) and a Riot Games employee replied: “Good point, we really should fix that! I’m on it and we should fix the problem very soon.” The rioter didn’t provide a date for these changes, but they probably won’t arrive until the next patch on 12.11.

While waiting for a fix, you can still abuse it since this is an oversight by Riot Games and not a bug. If you like Wukong, now is the time! The Monkey King currently has an indecent nearly 54% win rate across all ranks in the jungle, still equipped with the Divine Slayer of course.

The latest League of Legends balance patch has shaken up Summoner’s Rift. While some champions rejoice, others seem to sink into the abyss of soloQ.
