LoL: Hylissang replaced by a rookie in LEC at Fnatic!

After nearly five years together, Hylissang and Fnatic part ways . The English organization didn’t have to look far to find their replacement and, according to journalist Eros, Rhuckz will be tasked with accompanying Upset into the bot lane of Fnatic’s LEC team through 2023.

Decisive Worlds?

The World Championships would have played a key role in this decision . Captain Barbosa, as Rhuckz is nicknamed in the community, “took advantage” of his vacation in Mexico City to play the Play-In, Hylissang having caught COVID-19. Having barely trained with the team, the support adapted very well to her, made no mistakes while also making good IG decisions, allowing Fnatic to take their first two wins in of the very first phase of the Worlds.

Yet Rhuckz is considered an older player (for a LoL player), which is usually a barrier to joining LEC teams that prefer to bet on even younger talent. At 26 the Portuguese support received the biggest opportunity of his life after being one of the mainstays of the academy team for the past two years.

A long career in the Superliga

People who have followed the EU Masters in recent years know Portuguese well. After leaving K1CK, he landed in the SuperLiga, and made a strong impression there in his first season.

His exploits allowed him to sign with Movistar Riders , where he won the Spanish title for the first time. The year 2020 was key for him, and with Elyoya, Beansu, Xico and JaVaaa, they almost surprised the Giants in the spring, in a final marked by the pandemic and the Covid that the players had caught. They reclaimed the title at the Summer, after beating G2 Arctic in the final.

Rhuckz is best known for his Thresh, which is rarely left open in the SuperLiga. After three years in this championship, he will spend from academy to Fnatic first team . The task ahead of him is a difficult one, as even though the performances have often been criticized, he remains one of the greatest European supports in League of Legends history.

Two former Worlds participants will join Excel as toplaner and jungler. They are the first reinforcements of the British organization, which aims to reach the League of Legends World Championships for the first time in its history.
