Rumors of LEC slot takeovers have been rife in recent weeks with several names cited among potential buyers and sellers. Despite all these rumors circulating, for the moment, there is only one structure that has succeeded with Team Heretics who bought 80% of the slot of Misfits Gaming a few weeks ago, for 35 million euros. As the negotiations continue, we learn thata new structure may have found a way to arrive in the European league in 2023.
It is again a Spanish team and not just any one, KOI. If this type of agreement comes as a surprise, it could well be the best solution to join the LEC quickly for a still young structure. Founded in December 2021, KOI will therefore have taken only eight months to integrate the LEC. Alejandro Gomis remains uncertain as to the content of this agreement but it could result in a new naming for Rogue with the highlighting of the KOI name in LEC while the American structure would retain control over player management and other athlete-focused elements.
Obviously, for the moment this type of agreement remains special and we will have to wait a few weeks to find out more. on the responsibilities of each of the structures in this slot. However, this shows thatthere is room in LEC if the structures are ready to make efforts on the percentage they will have to integrate the league.
