The new League of Legends preseason is here, and with it, champions who are off to a great start with new items arriving in Summoner’s Rift. One of the most notable is the Steelheartwhich gave tanks a penchant for buying it as soon as possible and stacking HP like never before.
For champions like Dr. Mundo, Garen or Vladimir, this item works (too?) well, and those characters that do damage based on HP or regenerate HP over time, are the big beneficiaries. We’re confident that early preseason stats will be impressive for these types of champions in terms of pick or ban.
Mitigate and deal damage: Tanks do just about everything
As this stuff is better seen than written, here is a clear example of how Tanks work in this new patch. Sendo, a former professional gamer and content creator made a game of ARAM with his channel’s viewers and subscribers, on one condition. Have all selected characters in the Howling Abyss be tanks.
Sendo decided to go with Swain, and the game went on forever, although it was also predictable given that all players had tanks and these new items, especially the Steelheart, are very powerful. The fights lasted for minutes and it was nearly impossible to take down Dr. Mundo or the Noxian High General.
Once the game was over, the damage graph was revealing. Between damage taken and damage mitigated, Sendo blasted through the curves, surpassing three million damage taken. In terms of damage, he only inflicted “half a million”, while Dr. Mundo had over a million. This allows us to draw several obvious conclusions, and that is that the tanks are going to start very strong and the ADCs are going to suffer a lot to take down these monsters which can reach over 30,000 health points and tank almost infinitely.
